Blog 11 - Monday, October 24, 2016

There will only be ONE (1) blog this week - due Friday, October 28, 2016 at 11:59pm

Last week was Digital Citizenship Week.

An important part of my English class is to make you aware of what you post on-line and what it means to be a good digital citizen.  Being a good digital citizen includes:
- being aware of your digital footprints;
- demonstrating safe and respectful online etiquette;
- not cyberbullying, sexting, or posting inappropriate photos and/or videos,
- making important decisions about what to post to social media sites; and,
- not downloading or uploading inappropriate content

For this blog, I would like you to CREATE an important Digital Citizenship message using MEMES!

A meme in a generic message about a behaviour that is passed around on-line.

Using makeameme.org, create a MEME about being a GOOD Digital Citizen.  On the blog site, write an explanation about the meme you've created.  Explain why you've chosen that image? Explain the text on your meme!  How is your meme effective?

On classroom, I want you to submit your meme by copying and pasting it to a Google document and then TURNING it in!

  2. I made a meme that said"You posted what!?!?!, I hope you get tackled! and the picture is the New England Patriots which are are football team. I put the New England patriots because you tackle people during football. I wrote it because if you talk bad about someone they would get mad and become aggressive. So bottom line don't post something you shouldn't post.

  5. The meme: Top text: Dam why you post those inappropriate post bro! Bottom text: So don't delete your history they won't be deleted. I wrote this because to tell them not to post bad stuff and to delete them because they won't be deleted anyway and it a picture of a man covering his eyes. I thought that whould be a funny backround.

  6. The meme I have made for this project is a picture of the science cat and it reads, my studies show... that it will never be deleted. I wrote this because it shows that once something has been posted it will never be fully deleted. That there is always another copy or another website that will have whatever you posted. That it is almost impossible to fully remove something from the internet. The thing to remember is that before you hit send or post or upload you have to think, this will be seen. Once it is out there will I ever regret putting it up there and will I try to take it down? If you say yes, do not do it. Is it really worth it to have your self publicly humiliated all because of one picture? That is why I chose that picture and text for my meme.

  8. My meme is an angry baby that says: Do you know what people post these days? The bottom line,says just make sure you know what you post, because the whole world could see it! What I meant on that is sometimes you have some fun and you don't know what you post and you might not realize the consequences that you might get when you post it. I just want to make sure you watch what you post online because the whole world could see. You don't want to be the one who says "yes,I was the one who posted that picture" because it is not a good feeling. Sometimes people make mistakes,I get it but remember you have to learn from your mistakes or else you will regret it for the rest of your life. That is the worst feeling ever.

    1. You are right. It must be the worst feeling ever to think that somethings gone only to see it a little while later. You will most likely never hear the end of the story and it will haunt you for the rest of your days.

  9. For my digital citizenship meme I chose to make a meme with a cartoon picture of grumpy cat making his signature unimpressed face. The writing says "are you kitten me did you seriously just post that?!" I made this meme because I think that a lot of people post pictures and videos and although it may seem like a good idea in the moment just know that whatever your deciding to post will be a clear representation of you for the rest of your life.

  11. For my meme, I chose the sarcastic Willy Wonka meme. The text says: "You say you're a good digital citizen? Care to tell me about the last 12 texts you sent to your "friend"?" you may interpret whatever you want this meme to mean. It could represent cyberbullying, as if the guy had emailed bully texts to his "friend", or it could also mean sexting, as the "friend" in quotations could also work this way. But the main meaning of this text is that Willy could obviously see this text, (nothing is private) and that what that guy was doing on his phone was wrong and he was being a bad digital citizen.

  12. For my meme I did the Buzz Lightyear and Woody image. It read: And that is why...You should never post that. It is about spreading awareness about not posting inappropriate photos and the consequences. It is effective because it can teach people not to post inappropriate posts and to be aware of the consequences. The Image in my meme was Buzz showing Woody something with a smile and on the other side we se Woody with a cringed face. This is a demo of an adult (Buzz) showing a child (Woody) about the dangers and making the child scared.

  13. i picked an image with a man covering his eyes and it reads: you posted what? i cant even look. i used this image because i know many people who cover they're eyes when the see an inappropriate photo or post. you should always think before you post something.I know many of my fathers friends who's jobs are to look on they're employees Facebook, Instagram even twitter account to see what the are like and if they are appropriate or inappropriate. They will even do it before hiring you so if you don't know if you should post something ask yourself first : would your mother be ashamed of you if she sees that?

  14. For my meme, I chose the image of the Twitter bird inside the Instagram camera. It reads: “When you try to be someone else online”. I chose to do this because, a lot of people these days tend to be fake. As in fake, I mean someone who isn’t themselves on the inter-webs in real life.( Yes, I just said “inter-webs” because that’s who I am!!!!) I find that my meme represents a bad digital footprint because the people who are like this aren’t being aware of their digital footprint. Like in the movie “Cyberbully”, a girl starts getting cyberbullied by her friend. Her friend was being someone else and made her own friend feel bad for no reason. In this situation, she actually was being a fake person online.

  15. For my meme I took an angry picture of Donald Trump pointing. The top text reads: WRONG! And the bottom reads: I DELETED THAT YESTERDAY! It says this because things can't be deleted online. If you post something online, it's there forever. I chose Donald Trump because it's funny how he's all mad, but that's how anyone would act, if someone made a copy of that picture.

  16. For my meme, I did the popular opinion bear saying “ when you know you shouldn’t have posted that” because a lot of times people post things without realising the people it will affect and hurt. There has been so much cyberbullying in this world which is so sad, and so many people have felt bad about their selves for so long and many people have even committed suicide. Cyberbullying is bullying, and just because maybe only one person will see it, it will definitely affect more than one person, and deleting something that you posted is useless. It has already been seen.

  17. For my meme I did a picture of a girl with a weird face in the background saying" Are you kidding I deleted that a year ago!". I did this meme saying that to express that even though you delete a picture it is always still there. A lot of people think when they post something that when you delete it is erases from everything. But not really it only deletes on what you can see. Maybe someone took a screenshot and then starting sharing it with people then those people were sharing it with other people. Its crazy how fast things can spread. So the next time you post something really make sure if you really want to post it.

  18. For my hot spicy meme. I used the "Woody and Buzzlighyear" meme. It said "Mean comments, mean comments everywhere". I wrote this because i think its sadly very true. Whenever you post anything on the internet, a youtube video, facebook, twitter or any other form of something displaying you or your opinion, someone is going to get triggered, offended, butthurt or something else! And most of the time it does not even concern them, but noooo, they HAVE to say something to get attention. Its really silly. Thats why people should be nicer generaly.

  19. For my meme I chose a photo of Dory from "Finding Nemo" Top:I Don't Get It. Bottom:why Did You Post That? Let's just say I'm not the most creative when it comes to making memes. Although what I wrote is true you should never post something inappropriate or offensive on the internet. It could ruin your and someone else's life.

  20. My meme was Buzz and Woody from Toy Story. Buzz was pointing at something and Woody looked at it and had an OMG face. It was the scary type of OMG. On the top line I wrote "Hey Woody" and on the bottom line I wrote "Look at Andy's Facebook page". It represented to not post anything innapropriate online because not everybody wants to see that.

  21. I posted one saying "you posted a status that says you're happy""and we care" because I find it very unnecessary to say statuses online because people spend all this time doing things to look good or to appeal to people not just with statuses and in the end nobody even notices it that much.Just don't try too hard and just because you don't post that you're happy doesn't mean you can't be happy.

  22. My meme has President Obama pointing towards you saying " President Obama, Watching your every move" I decided on this idea because it means when you post something on social media, everybody can see it. That is why you should think before you post something and ask yourself if it is good or bad. If you post something bad, there is no deleting it. That is why you should always leave a good digital footprint.

  23. My meme that I created was a photo of a granny with glasses on. She was slightly holding up one side of the glasses. It made her look like she was confused. On the top of the meme, it said “DID I JUST SEE WHAT I THOUGHT I SAW.” And on the bottom of the meme, it said “KIDS THESE DAYS.” I was saying that there was kids who posted inappropriate stuff on the internet. Hopefully everyone can become a great digital citizen.

  24. For my meme I used the scared cat and it said "How is it still here I thought I deleted that!" I wrote that because even though you deleted something it is never really gone. Before you post something or send something make sure that you won't regret it or that it is appropriate because it will be there forever!

  25. Being a good digital citizen is easy it's about responsibility towards your online or internet use. It's also about the self respect you have for yourself when it comes to online posting. There's nothing wrong with taking a picture with a friend, or even a cute selfie but there is a point where it can become inappropriate. A lot of young girls my age or older don't have very high self esteem so they think if they post a highly inappropriate picture such as something even extreme as a nude then people will like them more. But the sad unfortunate thing about this is other people can assume very bad things about you and you will have a very bad reputation. I did my MEME on what you most online and I think it's very important to pay attention to what you post and to have some self confidence, whithout having to take a "sexy" , inappropriate picture. Don't forget that what you post online can never really be deleted and that everybody can see it.

  26. For my meme, I used a picture of the toy-story characters.The top text sais "let's take a look at your Instagram profile" and the bottom text sais "GULP!". I created this meme because a lot of people are posting inappropriate photos of them self and not being a good digital citizen,on top of that they could be damaging there reputation. This means that when they are older and are applying for there dream job they could have a less chance of getting hired, because nothing is never really deleted.
