"With only rare exception, the relationship between the amount of homework students do and their achievement outcomes was found to be positive and statistically significant," Homework has proven to be a significant source of aid to students across the globe and reducing it shows no sign of help to students. Might I remind you that children who actually feel like achieving and having high educational success, need work and reminders such as homework. Homework should be reduced because every time I get home I am either doing my homework or non-stop studying!! It is not fair because I want some time to be a child and watch TV, but I can’t do that because I have a total 10 pages of work and 25 pgs of studying!! I do sports like soccer and I have to show up to practice late because of my homework. When I am on the bus I hear the older kids and some of the Sec 1’s like me saying “I have soooo much homework”!! We should do something about this because my brain is always fried when I go to bed!! #Notfair!!
Here's the thing, when someone says "I want homework to be reduced!" it doesn't mean that they think homework is bad for you it just means that they want less homework, not any at all!...But no homework would be, how do I say this...AMAZING!
Think about it would you like to have to do more work after a long 6 to 8 hours I know I wouldn't. Studies show that kids learn more in a school environment. It is proven that if a child has no homework they learn more the next day and they are happier. When someone has homework or has to study it creates stress, if they bring that stress home its is unpleasant for the family and friends surrounding that child. Therefore homework should be reduced for the well being of the child and his or her pupils.
I think homework has to reduce homework. I do think also good for you, but at the same time I think that teacher's over do things by giving you 3 hour almost 4hours of homework depending on your speed. Teacher's like Mr. Katz(cough cough the loner), Mme Belloy, Ms Fades, etc... Do know that homework isn't good for you and these teachers give you almost only 15-30 minutes of homework if you focus. But on the other hand If you do to much homework your brain will get mushy. If your brains turns mushy you can't learn the education you need because it will just go out of your brain.
So in my opinion Jordan, Logan, Matthieu, and the rest of the class are all right about weather to reduce homework or not. If you don't agree with me witch I know people out there(cough cough teachers) then it your opinion so just don't judge my work. Oh I forgot Mr.Katz is also a teacher who understands us kids

But the ATA stated that “Homework for elementary students should be limited to 30 minutes” but Harris Cooper (The chairman of physiology at the Duke university) Stated that “Homework should be limited to ten minutes per grade level” Grade 1: 10mins. Grade 2: 20 minutes and so on.

Homework, the word that causes dread in millions of students across the globe, and the word that I say is a waste of time! If there’s too much homework given, then people won’t have as much sleep as they’re supposed to, and sleep is needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle! On debate.org, many people have good reasons that homework is too time consuming: “Homework has been admitted to have caused extreme anxiety to the great majority of students. There should be restrictions to the massive pile of homework people put on our desks everyday.” (Anonymous) According to Brookings Institution, we spend around 6 hours every week doing homework, 24 hours a month. That equals to an entire day made of nothing but doing homework! So my final result for this debate is that teachers give too much homework! People need their free time, and homework is nothing but a vacuum sucking all our free time down the tubes.

Students are given better grades when homework is not given in large amounts and are happier to be in school without the stress of these assignments. Children are meant to enjoy playing and facing challenges they may come across while playing to build life skills and not to deal with stress that has been handpicked for them. Homework should be reduced to help kids be successful in life with the right childhood experience and for the best of their future, homework should be greatly reduced.

Kids are complaining! Kids are crying! Kids are stressed! We need to stop this. Today, I will try to stop homework so no one can suffer from this monster. Homework should be banned because it is hurting kids. They get anxiety problems from doing not just a lot of homework, but even a bit of homework. Homework should also be banned because the teachers have to waste all of their time making useless pages of homework. The teachers always go through long days(especially if there is Mathieu Davies in the class) and don’t have the energy to do it. It just isn’t fair! My last reason Why homework should be banned is because not only the kids and teachers have to keep up with it, but our own parents who go to work all day. Even if they stay at home, they have to clean up the house and prepare meals. Kids have lives you know, all we do is work, work, work, work and just as we think we’re done for the day...MORE WORK! A website called factual facts took the words right out of my mouth saying “Too much homework can cause stress, depression and lower grades, studies suggest”. I sometimes get so stressed because I am constantly having to keep up with my homework and test and extra activities (because I have a life). It gets really tiring and discouraging and makes me not want to go to school. I don’t think i get THAT much homework that my eyes are popping out of my eye sockets, but there are some nights where I get a lot . I definitely think that homework should be reduced, but we should still get some because it does help.
Because of all the projects, presentations, tests, quizzes, paper homework and computer homework, it should be reduced. Kids should be able to do whatever they’re parents will let them do after the school hours such as sports, after school clubs, family get togethers and just hanging out with friends. Based off of my experiences, I was absent for the last 2 periods of the day a few weeks ago and I got the homework the next day from those 2 periods. I calculated how many hours of homework I had to do that night and it ended up being 4-5 hours. I missed a family get-together for my grandfather’s birthday whom I wasn’t going to see for 1 year. That is just 1 of the reasons why homework should be reduced.
It`s my first year in high school and I`m not used to getting so much homework. I`m not sure if it`s because I`m in the IB program or if it`s just high school but I think it`s a lot and it should be reduced a little especially like on days like today. The last thing I want to do is homework on days like today when I`m not feeling well. All I really want to do when I get home is go straight to bed and sleep until the next day.

Based off of my experiences, I know that homework doesn’t help anyone. Homework should be reduced, because there is no reason for a student to be nervous and stressed out at home. We have over six hours of school every weekday to be doing class work. At home, we should be doing things WE like doing. We should relax and not have to worry about getting a detention because we forgot to do our history work. Teachers say, homework helps you study your work at home, but I disagree with this. When you don’t understand something at home, you can’t ask the teachers for help. What usually ends up happening is that you don’t end up doing the work, and when you tell the teacher the next day that you didn’t understand it, you get in trouble. Kids should be free to have fun at home, and get to do what they want. That’s why homework should be reduced.
Because kids are young and energetic we cannot force them in there basement doing homework all night for about four days a week. Kids should be able to go outside and play for at least 30 minutes minimum and not have to stress over homework. Every day after school I am always stressing over homework or a text that must study for. This ruins my afternoon because homework takes over my free time after school leaving me with no time for hockey or to hang out with my friends. A solution to this problem is to give us time to do are home work in class instead of piling it on us to do after school.
Homework leads to stress and stress isn't good for you so I think that homework should be reduced. Kids should not have to stay up all night trying to finish tons of homework for the next day. Teachers could give a little homework but a little homework from each subject is a lot to do! To much homework makes you stressed and that isn't good for your health. When you don’t understand something at home, you can’t ask the teachers for help. What usually ends up happening is that you don’t end up doing the work, and when you tell the teacher the next day that you didn’t understand it, you get in trouble. Kids should be free to have fun at home, and get to do what they want. That’s why homework should be reduced.

DeleteBecause kids are young and energetic we cannot force them in there basement doing homework all night for about four days a week. Kids should be able to go outside and play for at least 30 minutes minimum and not have to stress over homework. Every day after school I am always stressing over homework or a text that must study for. This ruins my afternoon because homework takes over my free time after school leaving me with no time for hockey or to hang out with my friends. A solution to this problem is to give us time to do are home work in class instead of piling it on us to do after school.
ReplyDeleteHomework leads to stress and stress isn't good for you so I think that homework should be reduced. Kids should not have to stay up all night trying to finish tons of homework for the next day. Teachers could give a little homework but a little homework from each subject is a lot to do! To much homework makes you stressed and that isn't good for your health. Once my brother was up all night panicking about how he didn't get to finish his homework. So I believe that homework should be reduced.
