Blog 31 - Monday, January 30, 2017

This past weekend, president Donald Trump put together an executive order to VET (make a careful and critical examination of) Muslims, particularly from the following seven (7) countries: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.

Imagine being from one of those seven (7) countries and immediately told that you will NOT be able to return home for a minimum of 90 days, with a possibility of NEVER getting back in to your home?

How would this make you feel?
Is VETTING the right way to get rid of terrorism?
Is the president simply HATING one particular religion?

Explain.

  1. I think that I would feel really mad. To never be able to see my family again will be a nightmare. I can't believe Donald Trump is doing this. My family are the people I want to protect the most and my friends,if I can't return home for a minimum of 3 months I wouldn't be able to protect them. Most of all I will be really angry and extremely sad. There are some prons and cons to VETTING.
The good thing is they could check for murderers and Muslim people, but the bad thing is their might be wrong something in the system that might detect something that is not right. These countries that Donald Trump is focused on they did absolutely nothing to the Americans. So how could you blame someone for something if they didn't even do it. There is no surprise that Donald Trump is hating on one particular country and that country is Syria. Yes Syria is a country with a lot of war but they didn't touch the United States. He thinks that just because they are a country with war we have to examine them so they could never see their family again. It is really sad how this is going and I am very surprised that Donald Trump could be so stupid and cruel!!

  2. If this were to happen to me, I would be really upset and mad. If you were around me during this time, you wouldn’t want to hear what I’d have to say about Trump! I’d be cursing and yelling, and hoping all hell on him! I definitely think that vetting is not the right way to get rid of terrorism. If you want to start getting rid of terrorism in your country you could, increase security in certain parts of cities/states, do small background checks at airports, when entering the country, and much more. I feel like if you are putting a band to a certain religion(AKA the Muslim religion), you are definitely being racist and hating towards Muslims. If America is supposed to be a free country, then why is it banning Muslims from its country so that they are able to be free? Answer me that America, answer me that.

    1. I think your right about setting up more security instead of vetting.

  3. I think that I, just like anyone else in the world would feel mistreated, discriminated and would feel very untreated. I would definitely be furious. I know it's not the right way to prevent terrorism, especially if the Vet is against countries that dont have terrorists. I for sure think Donald Trump has connections with some countries, and that's not why he's vetting against all islamic countries and only some. I definitely think it's wrong to not let a particular group of people into their country for 3 months. What has America become? And what will happen to it in the future?

  4. If I was living in one of those countries, I would feel super mad, mistreated and think that everything that is going on is unfair. Why do we have to be treated so horribly for stuff that we did not even do. We killed no US citizens. Everyone of us are just trying to live our lives peacefully. We already have bad people killing innocent women and men. I strongly think that vetting is not the right way to end terrorism. There many other different ways that are not harmful and don't involve unfairness. I do think that the president, Donald Trump, is hating on one region. Just because there has been some terrorists from that region in the past before, doesn't mean everyone should be punished.

  5. If I was someone who came from one of the seven countries on Trump's ban list and I wasn't allowed in the U.S.A. for three months, I would be mad and sad. Mad because of President Trump not letting certain people in the country and sad because I wouldn't see my family again. Vetting may prevent some terrorists entering the country, but it doesn't mean it will stop them from entering. I definitely think the President of the United States of America dislikes Muslims.

  6. If I was someone from one of these 7 countries and could not get back into my home for more than 90 days? (Maybe forever) I would be devastated! i would think that Vetting is absolutely not the right way to get rid of terrorist in a country! He is discrimination people because of their religion, it's even written in the U.S Constitution that you are NOT allowed to de that! I think "Mr. Trump" was born into racism and discrimination (Not to him) and is now the U.S president and is treating that position like it is a business! He is a racist, loud mouthed, tax avoiding, grouchy, blond haired freak!

  7. Honestly this should not be allowed at all but yes peopel should be checked for bombs and etc in airports. but keeping people from they're families just isn't right at all like I would like to be abke to come home and see my dog or see my family but no I'm stuck for 30 days being interrogated for something I diddn't even do. So ask me if this is fair it's not
And if u agree with donald trump i now do not like you
    Thank you

  8. (I will be writing as if I am someone detained)
Positively outraged! That's exactly what I felt when I found out I couldn't return home to my husband and children. They need me too be back home with them. Now I am stuck in the United States waiting for a verdict on my exception. I though USA was all about equality and freedom. I've already been through security, and now this? VETTING is something you should do. Carefully examining things...with respect and equality. Muslims shouldn't just be the ones being "examined". It should be everyone. It truly does not matter based on your race, religion, political status or your opinions. It should be treated with proper justice. I do think that the president is hating one religion above others. Yet, the country I am from, has never killed an American citizen. Yet because Mr.Trump does business with Saudi Arabia, he can let them in. This is not proper justice.

  9. Donald Trump is simply just hating and being racist on the seven countries . It is not right because there is so many innocence but have to go through this process. This would make me feel insulted and angry. Because I have the right to my own home and it would make me feel insulted because it's racist. I don't know what I would do if I wasn't allowed to go back to my own home. Vetting is not the right way to keep the bad people out and most of the people who come from though seven countries are not even bad. If I were in Donald trumps position I would just ask for identification and maybe check for weapons but not. where everyone has to be vetted and not for three months. It's injustice to not let people go to their own homes. I would ask Everyone for their for their identification and check everyone for weapons so that no specific race or country feels like they're being insulted or like racism is used against them.
    Thanks for reading

  10. this is a disgraced if i were from one of these countries i would be frustrated because first hes just hating on those countries i mean nothing has happened between the two places they have killed no one and they aren't allowed to LEAVE? i mean its insane vetting is a good way of getting rid of terrorists but you have to vet the right places vetting these countries is like vetting people from Canada i mean they've done nothing to America except be nice and this is how he repays them. i mean they have families and jobs and animals that can die if they don't get feed hes just stupid and he shouldn't be president in my opinion.

  11. Wow! Trump is getting dumber and dumber by the day and making stupid decisions. But why? My mom has already been turned around at the border between Canada and the U.S. she didn't like it because she wanted to come back to see my brother, my dad and I. I can't imagine not being allowed to go home after going on a trip for 3 MONTHS! Trump is definitely a hater but he also has business deals with some of the countries that aren't banned like Saudi-Arabia or Egypt. If you ask me I think vetting is one of the worst ways of dealing with terrorism.

  12. If i was from one of the 7 countries I would be furious and insulted. If you are going to vet certain country, you might as well vet them all. It isn't fair to target a couple countries just because there are bad people there because there are bad people all over the world. Vetting is not the way to get rid of terrorism. I don't know what a better solution is, but I'm sure there is one. I definitely think that the president is discriminating certain people. I guess with a tiny part of me understands that he wants to keep the country safe but he's doing it in the wrong way. It just isn't fair that some people ruin the reputation for all of them. Some of my best friends are muslim and they are such good people so to think that they could go across the border and be held back for over 90 days is so upsetting and it is very hard to understand why anyone could think of an idea that is so unfair and unreasonable. If people are going to ruin reputations for their country, we should all suffer because we all deserve to have the same rights.

  14. Donald Trump has done many bad things to America, but to me, this is the worst. He is totally hating against Muslims. If I were in s situation like this, I would feel awful. I would feel unwanted and worthless. I can’t imagine not being able to come back to the country where my family is. Vetting is definitely not the right way to get rid of terrorists. This is only separating innocent people from their families.

  15. If I was living in one of those countries, I would be enraged. I might even lose my job if I had a business trip in the us. I might never be able to see parts of my family ever again. Worse comes to worse, I might lose everything, more than everything. I think the president might be hating on a certain stereotype as opposed to a certain religion. Some bad stereotypes from these countries might get a little disturbing but its just a stereotype. They are rarely true. I think the president needs to realize some things. America is not a business, you run one of the biggest most important countries in the world and you create ways to insult entire countries. We all deserve equality and that includes countries all over the globe.

  16. Trumps an idiot. *No Offence* YOUR KEEPING PEOPLE HOSTAGE IN YOUR HOME!!! If I was visiting America from my home in Iran and was forced to stay there for 90 days is crazy. Trump is diffidently targeting the Muslims as terrorists which is crazy. I can't believe him. Vetting is NOT the answer.

  17. Mr.Donald Trump is a terrorist himself. Like hes keeping them hostage. He only wanted to become president because he wanted to ban them. Vetting is not the answer for anything. I meen he should be kicked out of the country for being orange. And don't get me started with the way he talks!

  18. I think that Trump is doing it all wrong. Extreme vetting is not the way to stop terrorism, although it is a good way to start it. Think about it, if you look at the big picture Trump is excluding most of the middle easterns from there homes, jobs and familys .If I was from the Middle East and I lived in The US I would be furious if I were not allowed to get back home. This makes no sense! Trump isint giving security to his country he is making the USA the most hated country on the planet, and along with it, Canada.

  19. My honest opinion is that Donald Trump has a good idea in mind (which is shocking I know) but he isn't taking actions on the situation is a good way. He wants to get rid of terrorist but he is literally keeping people hostage and are not letting them go home. If I were stuck 90 days away from my home I would rant A LOT and I would be very angry. It's not fair how they aren't letting us go home because we are in a certain country!!! This is not the right way of getting rid of terrorism! This just makes people angry. Also I think Donald Trump is hating on this religion because there are people who are terrorist and they believe in the same religion! But Donald Trump you should realize that not all people are like that!!!

  20. My opinion on Donald Trump is that he says what some people are scared of saying and in a way its good for the people that are scared of saying it but also as being the president of America that is not the way of speaking. In this situation I would be completely devastated to not be able to go home also be extremely sad because home is where your family is.Most of the people that got banned were parents of little kids that just want their parents back home. Absolutely vetting is not the solution of getting terrorism out of the country at all. Its one of the worst ways, all it is doing is separating family's and not letting them go home which is just creating anger. Well right now banning 7 countries that serve mostly one religion which is Muslim. So yes he is hating on just one religion.

    ReplyDelete
  21. This type of thing is not new in any country but I find it terrible. Half of the countries he banned barely had anything to do with extremism. He is just advertising a false sense of fear in all the Americans supporting him. this is exactly what they did with black people and how marijuana makes Mexicans crazy. It's just stupid. And the guy said that Mexicans were crazy by marijuana only made that statement because he was going bankrupt and he needed a boost in profit. All this is to just make him more popular. why can't people realize this.

  22. I think that if I coulden't go home for another 90 days or more maybe even never!!! I would FREAK!!! I would also start balling my eyes out. Especially if it was a young child hearing that he woulden't see his family for another 90 days or more, IT'S TERRIBLE!!! Vetting is definitely not the right way of getting rid of terrorism. The president doesen't just hate one specific religion. He doesen't like blacks, or woman, or Muslims and that is not right. I don't know how to react to this. It just makes me feel like 👿.

  23. i think it is a bad idea because there loved ones or there home or all there money, house, and friends. I would feel like killing myself (not for real) but i think that there is no point in living anyways. any way to being a president you have to give equality but not like everyone but still giving people fairness we have solved the blacks and now we have to solve the women problem. but with donald trump as president they will never get freedom and fairness.

  24. This would make me very upset.
I think that his choice was very unfair and he's letting the saudi arabians, the egyptians, and others in because of weapon trades. but he's put bans on the other places that haven't done anything. And being not allowed in your own country after your vacation to iran is absolutely terrible. If that happened to me, I would be more than upset, i would be sad.
